– Securing patent protection for this solution strengthens ML System’s position in the BIPV area and supports the further development of our product offer. The patent will facilitate the implementation of nanotechnology-based solutions that increase the efficiency and durability of products, as well as their resistance to environmental factors, while maintaining high quality standards. The technology also enables better adaptation of products to aesthetic needs, including through the personalization of texture, color, and shape. This solution also has potential for application in special-purpose products. The Military Institute of Engineer Technology in Wrocław has issued a certificate confirming the attenuation of radar waves in specific ranges for the patented invention,” emphasizes Dawid Cycoń, Vice President of ML System.
The granted patent covers both the new technology for manufacturing laminar photovoltaic systems and the products created using it. The technology can be used, among other things, for the production of layered laminates applied in the construction and automotive industries, such as facade coverings, photovoltaic roof tiles, cladding, and vehicle roofs. It can also find application in military vehicles. An important feature of the solution is its high resistance to external conditions, including temperature, humidity, chemicals, and biological factors. The technology is the result of research on the application of nanomaterials, in particular titanium nanotubes as a waveguide system for electromagnetic waves – so-called “quantum wells” – and on the implementation of layer growth technology in industrial processes.
The patent has been additionally validated in Austria, Germany, and Romania. Validation means the formal recognition of the patent in selected jurisdictions, making it legally effective there – this process has already been completed. Concurrently, work is underway to obtain patent protection for this solution in the United States.
ML System is a highly specialized technological company with a very strong research and laboratory background, offering innovative building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) solutions. ML System’s products constitute an attractive alternative to traditional building materials. The company’s offer includes a broad portfolio of traditional photovoltaic products, energy storage and management systems, as well as specialized glass, including photovoltaic glass for the construction and automotive industries. The total area of the company’s production facilities, including warehouses and the research and development center, exceeds 40,000 square meters. The company holds 22 patents, and six patent proceedings are currently pending. Since 2020, ML System has been conducting research on the use of quantum physics phenomena in photonic and photovoltaic applications. In 2021, the company launched the world’s first production line for transparent glass with a quantum coating generating electricity. This event, termed the “quantum revolution in global construction,” is one of the elements of the “new quantum era” strategy announced by the company, opening up new possibilities and functions for the application of glass in the BIPV and automotive industries.
