PHOTOVOLTAIC ROOF IN MILAN

360 MWh OF CLEAN ENERGY PER YEAR

360 MWh of clean energy per year is equivalent to:

- 36 million cups of espresso

- 20 electric cars each driving 10,000 km per year

- 100 homes powered for an entire year

- 7,200 LED bulbs shining continuously for 12 months

- 720,000 rides on an electric scooter

- 331 tons of CO₂ avoided – equivalent to planting over 15,000 trees

The new BFF headquarters in Milan – designed by architects Paolo Brescia, Tommaso Principi, and Andrea Casetto from OBR – is located on Viale Scarampo, near one of the city's gateways. The building design has been expanded to include an urban planning component aimed at establishing a strong connection with its surroundings, contributing to the revitalization and development of the historic Portello district. With LEED Platinum and WELL Gold certifications, the building will meet the highest international standards of sustainability. It defines a new "urban garden" space overlooking the entrance hall, auditorium, and a museum that will house the Bank's contemporary art collection.

PHOTOVOLTAIC ROOF IN MILAN

360 MWh OF CLEAN ENERGY PER YEAR

The new BFF headquarters in Milan – designed by architects Paolo Brescia, Tommaso Principi, and Andrea Casetto from OBR – is located on Viale Scarampo, near one of the city's main entry points. The architectural concept has been expanded to include an urban planning component aimed at creating a strong connection with the surrounding context, contributing to the revitalization and development of the historic Portello district. With LEED Platinum and WELL Gold certifications, the building will meet the highest international standards for sustainable development. It introduces a new "urban garden" space overlooking the main lobby, an auditorium, and a museum that will house the Bank’s contemporary art collection.

...the surrounding space is defined by a 40-meter portico supporting a large roof made of photovoltaic modules supplied by ML System. The 302 kWp BIPV roof meets the building’s energy needs.

Sales & Project Manager, ML SYSTEM

The Casa BFF project is an excellent example of the effective integration of modern architecture with the functionality of building-integrated photovoltaic systems (BIPV). At ML System, we were responsible for providing support in structural calculations and designing the most efficient photovoltaic solutions aligned with the goals of a net-zero energy building.

We would like to thank all our partners for their collaboration and the opportunity to work on such an outstanding facility, and our client, Pichler Projects, for their professionalism and excellent project coordination. Casa BFF marks our first step into the Italian market—a region where we see tremendous potential for further development of the BIPV sector.

The new building perfectly reflects the current environmental policy of the BFF Banking Group. The headquarters includes a museum space, an auditorium, and a garden. The roof generates green energy, and the entire complex creates a welcoming environment for both employees and local residents.

In line with the concept developed by the OBR architectural studio, the underside of the BIPV modules was printed with a white ceramic pattern, creating a bright glass surface. This solution enhances the visual lightness of the roof, which—resting on a delicate structural frame—appears to float above the building.
