Hospital buildings in Komotini, Thessaloniki, and Sparta will feature 17,500 m² of BIPV

Global Health Initiative (GHI) supports transformative infrastructure projects aimed at improving access to high-quality healthcare worldwide. Construction and outfitting are currently underway for three state-of-the-art public hospitals in Greece — located in Komotini, Thessaloniki, and Sparta — designed by Renzo Piano and the Renzo Piano Building Workshop.

ML System has been selected to carry out the BIPV installation for the new hospital buildings in Komotini, Thessaloniki, and Sparta, Greece. The projects will cover a total area of over 17,500 m², making it the largest BIPV contract in Europe.

RENZO PIANO is a world-renowned Italian architect — a design genius, a pioneer and enthusiast of the high-tech style, and the creator of dozens of iconic buildings constructed around the globe.

Renzo Piano is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards. The most significant is the Pritzker Prize received in 1998, often referred to as the "Nobel Prize of Architecture." Other honors include the American Institute of Architects Gold Medal in 2008 and being named a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. On August 30, 2013, in recognition of his achievements, Piano was appointed a lifetime senator of Italy.

The project is designed by the renowned architectural firm Renzo Piano, with AVAX — one of the oldest and largest construction companies in Greece — serving as the general contractor. ML System’s offer was selected due to the technological advantages of its products, certified safety standards, reliability, extensive experience, and the ability to execute the project within a very short timeframe. The contract will be completed in 2026, with the first deliveries starting later this year.
