The history of the Rischart bakery goes back over 140 years. Founded in 1883 by Max Rischart Sr., the company has been focusing on quality and a high work culture for five generations. Today, Rischart is one of the leading bakeries in Germany, with 18 branches and headquarters in a new building in Munich. Rischart serves eight million customers a year. The main store on Marienplatz is the most visited bakery in Germany, supplying 1.2 million customers a year.

When the old bakery on Buttermelcherstraße became too small over the years, Rischart decided to invest in a new location on the former exhibition grounds on Theresienwiese. With the support of the city, the property was sold to a local company as part of an economic development program. As a result, Rischart, which employs over 500 people, remained in Munich, right in the city center.

The Rischart building was designed and supervised by the experienced Munich-based firm Kiessler Architekten GmbH, which has many projects and awards to its credit, including the German Architecture Prize. The architects paid particular attention to the function of the building, its ecology, and the relationship of the new building to its surroundings in the densely built-up center of Munich.

The building, with a volume of 105,000 m3, is designed on a trapezoidal plan and has three internal courtyards. On the fourth and fifth floors, there are 100 service apartments for employees, as well as 84 hotel apartments belonging to the Munich-based Cocoon hotel chain. The roof terrace offers a panoramic view of Munich city center. All bakery logistics and parking are located in the basement. The Rischart building sets new standards not only in urban sustainable architecture but also in business philosophy and culture.

For the new Rischart bakery building in Munich, ML SYSTEM supplied 200 photovoltaic double-chamber glass sets of various sizes. The photovoltaic products have individual colors and enhanced acoustic parameters, which are required due to the nearby railway line. The complete photovoltaic sets were manufactured at the ML System factory, which has full technological capabilities. The design, fabrication and installation of the facades together with the photovoltaic products was carried out by our partner, FRENER & REIFER GmbH.
